Q. (2) I have a backache. Is chiropractic therapy on the upper cervical vertebra alone sufficient to relieve my pain? Should I also seek other treatments such as correction of the lumbar vertebrae or pelvis?

->Go to Backache

A:

Backache is caused by a slipped disk at the highest point of the misalignment in the spinal column. It is however important to remember that all parts of human body are closely interrelated. If there is a misalignment of the spinal column, it is usually a result of distortions of the whole bone structure. Thus, in order to relieve backache, treatment to correct distortions of the bone structure is necessary.

This may be much easier to understand when we think about how a rubber band acts after it is twisted all the way up to make a knot-like form. The form cannot be forced to change into another because it will twist back into the twisted shape it had before unless the twisting itself is released.

As all parts of the body are interconnected, treatment for backache should be aimed at correcting the whole bone structure and not just the back. By removing the twisting in the back, the lumbar spine will come back into alignment, thus relieving the back pain. The healing process through chiropractic therapy does not necessarily occur in a certain order; however, patients often find that making adjustments (correction of misalignment) to remove subluxation activates innate (natural healing power) , thus making the whole body move into the right position by simultaneously affecting the skull (cranial distortions), pelvis, spinal column, hands and feet.

Distortions of the whole bone structure are related to physical condition. This means that when physical condition improves, distortions of the whole bone structure will also disappear. Corrections can occur at every part of the body, with straightening of the back and even the toes. This healing process depends on the innate power of body to “know” the right alignments of the bone structure. It is, therefore, important to allow accurate and timely communication with the innate ability of the body to solve problems (cure illnesses).

This is the rationale for us to propose that the body has an ability to identify and cure illnesses by itself, not by external forces. We believe that “The root of illness is one and the same.”

Treatment at our clinic helps patients achieve symmetry in every part of the body by eradicating the root of illnesses. This subsequently improves the physical condition by relieving symptoms such as backache or stiff shoulders.
